Abstract

This research is entitled the Development Strategy of Kauman Village as a Religious Tourism Area. The purpose of this study was to determine the development strategy of religious tourism in Kauman Village and to find out the development of religious tourism in Kauman Village, Gondomanan District, Ngupasan Village, Yogyakarta, which is expected to have a positive impact on the communities around Kauman Village. The data collection method was carried out by observing and interviewing the Takmir of the Gedhe Kauman Mosque, the Chairperson of the Saka Wisata and the Kauman Village Community. The data analysis method is descriptive qualitative research which describes social phenomena without comparisons and answers hypotheses but puts more emphasis on the results of the discourse on stakeholders, namely, Takmir Masjid, Chairperson of Saka Wisata and the Community. The results show that the strategy for developing religious tourism in Kauman Village is through the historical existence of Muhammadiyah, the formation of the existence of religious tourism is expected to be an actor in the development of religious tourism. Kauman society who will become tourism actors have stated their readiness to participate in the development of the Kauman village. The suggestion in this research is to get support from the government and assistance in Kauman village in the development of religious tourism.
