Abstract
This research aims to; 1) describe the reasons for teenage tourists visiting the tourist area of the Old City of Semarang; 2) describe the strategic plan to attract the interest of visiting young tourists; 3) analyze the obstacles to tourism promotion strategies; 4) describe the steps taken to overcome the obstacles to tourism promotion strategies. This research was conducted at the Semarang City Culture and Tourism Office and the Old City Semarang tourist area. This research method is descriptive qualitative. The main research informants were the Head of Culture and Tourism Promotion Section, and the Head of the History and Cultural Heritage Section, supporting informants were the Analysis of Cultural Information and teenage tourists visiting the Old City area. Data collection is done by direct observation, interviews, field notes and use of documents. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data collection, data codification, data presentation using the SWOT matrix and conclusions. The results of this study are in the form of a priority strategy using the SO strategy, namely: making a heritage area in the middle of the city with old buildings that are still maintained, making more intagrammable photo spots that are easily accessible because they are integrated with public transport, add a beautiful garden with equipped with free WI-FI and can be reached with free tourist buses that pass through the area, Encouraging the youth community to use the free oudetrap building to hold events that can be reached by tourists, and Providing interesting heritage-themed tourist attractions within known regions by domestic and international tourists. And the strategy of ST is: Maximizing the vacant land around the old building at the entrance of the area as parking bags, Maximizing the parks in the Old City as water absorption so as to minimize the impact of rob (rising sea levels) also repairing the gutter -selokan in the area, Increase beautiful gardens with Wi-Fi facilities so that it can encourage the interest of visiting teenagers, Join international-scale travel promotion events in various countries and hold international scale events in the Old City area of Semarang, Integrating Regions The Old City with several attractions around it such as Chinatown (China Town) and the Great Mosque of Semarang through tour packages or tourist bus routes so that the Old City of Semarang becomes more interesting to visit
